What is Community Acupuncture ?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most common and dependable medical therapies used in the world. It is by nature simple, safe and effective health care. Acupuncture practitioners use thin, sterile disposable needles inserted superficially into specific areas of the body in order to help the body's ability to heal itself. (https://www.pocacoop.com/faq)

What should i expect for my initial community acupuncture treatment at ne wellness?

Seated comfortably alongside other members of your community, you will receive a personalized, distal acupuncture treatment. This means we only needle from the knees down, from the elbows down, in the ears, face, and head.

There are more nerves in you arms and legs, particularly below the elbows and knees. Where there is higher nerve density, there is more brain stimulation, which leads to more pain relief. Needling these areas also releases more endorphins and pain-modulating substances.

Needling from the elbows down and knees down makes NE Wellness more accessible and affordable to all. We're able to see more people at once because all you need to do is roll up your pants and sleeves.

You can relax for 30 to 60 minutes, allowing your body to use its naturally occurring healing abilities to help you get well and stay that way.

Do you accept insurance for payment?

At this time, we are not licensed to accept medical insurance for payment. You may pay with your HSA or FSA card, as well as contact your insurance company for reimbursement of services. We are happy to provide you with any receipts you may need! We do offer Personal Injury private services for patients with Workers Comp or Motor Vehicle Accident Claims.

What do i wear?

We only needle from the knees down, from the elbows down, in the ears, face, and head. Please wear pants or shorts that you can roll up to expose knees and below; short sleeves to expose elbows and below. No street shoes are allowed in the community acupuncture room. We have slippers available for you to wear!

Do you offer sliding scale or more affordable service options?

Yes! We are pleased to offer a variety of membership options.
Membership to NE Wellness includes affordable access to holistic services in a space set up for whole self care. Members may utilize private and community spaces and amenities designed with healing in mind and have access to weekly and monthly specials. Our memberships help us continue to provide the best wages we can for our employees and staff and continue the growth of NE Wellness.

If you are unable to afford a monthly membership option or pay for acupuncture each time, please reach out to Info@NEWellnessMpls.com for more information on our work-trade and sponsorship program!

Do you offer free or off-street parking at your clinic?

We do not have off-street parking available. Please allow plenty of time prior to your appointment to find street parking!

Is your clinic wheelchair accessible?

We apologize that NE Wellness is not wheelchair accessible. We are located on the second floor of the building. Upon entry, 17 stairs need to be ascended to get to the clinic. Unfortunately, we do not have an elevator or accessible way of assisting patrons up these stairs. We are working on making our space accessible! Please help us fundraise to move the community acupuncture space to the first level this spring!

Should I tip my provider?

Tips are never expected but always appreciated! Front desk will always give you the opportunity to tip for private services. We don’t ask for tips for community acupuncture services or hijama.

What should I do if I need to cancel an appointment?

If it’s more than 24 hours in advance, you can cancel your appointment online or give us a call at 612 399 6322 during open hours.
In respect for our intention to offer high quality health care at affordable prices, we ask for 24 hours notice in advance of an appointment if it is necessary to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

All appointments that are rescheduled or cancelled with less than 24 hour-advance notice, and appointments missed without notice, will be charged a fee equal to 50% the full appointment value. If appointments have been purchased in a package, the missed, cancelled, or rescheduled appointment will be deducted from the number of remaining appointments in that package.
