Yoga Nidra is also known as sleep yoga and is a type of guided meditation that guides you into a state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleeping. The body is in complete relaxation during yoga nidra, and often times a session can feel like the equivalent of 2-3 hours of sleep. It is useful to practice every day but especially during busy weeks, in stressful times to renew and make space and even during periods of cleansing or fasting to reset and deepen your healing.
The practice of yogic relaxation has been found to reduce tension and anxiety. The symptoms of high stress such as headache, tension, anxiety, palpitations, insomnia, and digestive issues respond well to yoga nidra. It has also been practiced to help people cope with trauma of all kinds and has been shown to help those with dysphoria and dysmorphia, as well.
We’ll start out the workshop with some light restorative stretching before we get into our supported resting poses. Kate will make a recording of our session and share it with all attendees so they may practice at home whenever it would benefit their lives.
Kate learned about this form of guided mediation while in recovery from a painful nerve disorder and it helped her turn a corner back into health. She is so excited to teach it to others and give them the gift of yoga nidra in their lives. This class is appropriate for all levels.
